Computing

By the end of Year 6, we want children at Oughtibridge Primary school to be able to understand the concepts below and to be able to answer these key questions about them.
Digital Literacy – How can we use information technology to find, store, use and share content?
Data – How is information stored, organised and shared across computer systems and devices?
Safety – What steps do we need to take to keep ourselves (and our data) safe?
Multimedia – How can we present information effectively?
Logic and Algorithms – What processes or sets of rules, need to be followed in order to solve a problem or complete a task?
The above skills are enhanced through Computing as children are given opportunities to master skills, utilise different technologies, improve online awareness and explore different software.
Computing is an essential part of our everyday lives as technology is now entwined throughout it. Therefore, it is crucial that children master the skills from an early age and are taught about the importance of being computer literate in our technological dependent world. Children are encouraged to be inquisitive and use problem solving skills, so that they are ready for the next stage in their lives. We believe online safety is paramount, and children are afforded opportunities to discuss and build awareness of potential risks online.
